The Akkordeon Ensemble di Aosta was formed in the spring of 1997 and immediately managed to gain popularity by winning first prize at the 22nd International Competition "Città di Castelfidardo"
The accordion, an instrument with solid folk roots, has confirmed its place in classical music as the Ensemble demonstrates by playing pieces by composers such as Piazzolla, Gotz, Seiber, Solotarev, Bach, Rossini and Strauss.
In the pieces by Astor Piazzolla the solo part is given, as in the original versions, to the "bandoneon" and is played by Ezio Borghese a member of Alfredo Marcucci's "Orchestra Tipica di Tango" .
The artistic direction is by Giorgio Dellarole, concert player and accordion tutor at the Musical Institute in Valle D'Aosta.
The Akkordeon Ensemble has played numerous Concert seasons in prestigious places. The most important being in Trento during 'Martedì Musicali of Rosmini', in Gorizia for the "R Lipizer" foundation, in the Ariccia Chigi Palace for the concerts of the "Sfaccendati" Academy and in Turin at the Alfieri theatre as well as the Verdi Conservatory.
